Pre-laborate: a recap

December 2020 – January 10th 2021

My ways of seeing have been cultivated via this constant exercise of filming my environment. Or more so – choosing aspects of my environment to film. My stance on photography is inviting the audience to the mindspace behind your eyes, to see.

Iteration I: I juxtaposed audios and videos together, which on their own, carried very different stories, and see how they worked together.

Iteration II: More visual choreography, also more mindful choice of clips to form the anti-narrative dynamic.

Iteration III: This time both the audio and video tracks narrate contrasting stories on their own right. I realised my approach is very much veering towards storytelling. I don’t know if I shall follow it or resiste it and explore a harder, yet potentially more interesting path.

Iteration IV: I started disintegrating the visual, by filming the video itself. After 5 repetitions, I came up with a creepy looking visual resembling 90’s VHS tapes. The audio is also jibbered. The many layers of the progress bar is also interesting.
